# How to Set a Masking Image for Product Personalization

**Learn how image masking helps personalize your product**. Image masking makes your product background transparent, allowing customers to add their own text, colors, background patterns, or images. It gives full freedom to design and customize the product's look.

# Steps:

1. **Product Configuration**: Click on Configure Personalization Products  ➜ Click On the **Add Product** Button.

2. **Selection of Product**: Click on the Add product button  ➜ select the product ➜ Click on the Add button

3. **Personalization Option**: Choose **Personalization Type **➜ Click On the **Customize **Button.

4. **Edit Side**: Click on the vertical three dots** (⋮)**, then select 'Edit Side'

5. **Side Name**: Select the Side name. If you have multiple sides of the product. 
* **Canvas Image Type**: Select **Set Mask Image** from the list.
||| Note: You can only choose this option when setting up the first side. Once another side is added, the same image type applies to all sides and can't be changed.

6. **Choose Mask Image Type: You can pick Ready made image or you can upload your masking image from your device, which is transparent. So, customer can personalize it.**
* **Select Masking Image**: Use our sample making images of products like T-shirts, mugs, and mobile cases. Download them from the Masking Samples tab in the app to start customizing quickly. Click on**. Masking Image** ➜ Select Category ➜  Select the masking **Image **➜Click on the **Update **Button.** **

* **Upload Masking Image**: From your device, upload a transparent masking image. This allows customers to personalize the transparent areas. Click On **Upload** **Your Image** ➜  Select the **Custom Image **➜ Click On the **Update **Button.

7. **Enable Product Colour Option**:- After clicking the update button, you can enable** **or disable the Colour Variant option on the product with a toggle button. Click the **Manage** button to select the color you want to apply to the text.➜ Click To ADD Button!

8. **Enable Background Pattern Option**: After enabling** **the colour option,You can Enable or disable  **Background Pattern **option on the product with a toggle button. Click the **Manage** button to select the Background pattern you want to apply to the personalize product➜ Click To ADD Button

9. **Preview**: Once you select the masking image, you can view its preview in the admin panel.Click to **Save **button to save the changes

10. Go to the frontend ➜   Select the product ➜  click to customize button

* **Change Colour:** If the color option is enabled in the backend, it will appear on the frontend. This allows you to easily change the color and continue with further customization.

* **Background Pattern:** If the Background Pattern option is enabled in the backend, all selected patterns will appear on the frontend. You can choose one and proceed with further personalization.

# Result:

Personalize the product by changing the background color, adding patterns, or inserting text on the masking image.

||| Note: You can’t change the canvas image type of other sides directly. It’s set based on the first side. To update it, change the canvas image type on the first side.
