Installation Guide : AI Shopping Assistant‑ Chatbot

This guide will help you install and configure the AI Shopping Assistant – Chatbot app on your Shopify store.


The AI Shopping Assistant – Chatbot helps merchants provide instant customer support, AI-powered product recommendations, and automated shopping assistance directly on their Shopify storefront.



Steps:-


  1. Install the App : Go to the Shopify App Store → Search for “AI Shopping Assistant – Chatbot” → Open the app listing → Click Install.







  1. Complete Shopify Installation : You will now be redirected to your Shopify Admin → Click the Install button again to complete the installation process.






  1. Select App Plan: Open the app dashboard → Select the preferred app plan based on your store requirements → Approve the Shopify subscription charges to continue setup.




  1. Enable the App Embed : Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → Open the App Embeds section →Search for “AI Shopping Assistant – Chatbot” in the App Embeds section. → Enable the toggle button → Click “Save” to activate the chatbot on your storefront.







  1. Test Your Chatbot : Click the “Test chatbot” button to preview how the chatbot looks and behaves on your storefront before customers see it → You can also click “Visit your store” to verify the chatbot directly on the live storefront.




On the Storefront





  1. Enable APP :- Go To Activate APP→ Click the Inactive toggle button




  1. Add Knowledge Base Content : Go to Knowledge Base from the app dashboard. → Click the Manage button

You can improve chatbot responses by adding store content such as:

  • Pages & Policies : Sync store pages like About Us, Contact Us, Shipping Policy, Return Policy, Privacy Policy, and Size Charts so the AI chatbot can answer policy-related customer questions automatically.
  • FAQs : Add frequently asked questions and answers such as delivery time, returns, payments, tracking, and product usage to provide instant automated customer support.
  • PDF/DOCX Files : Upload product catalogs, manuals, instruction guides, warranty documents, or specification files so the AI chatbot can answer queries based on uploaded documents.
  • Webpages & Blogs : Add blog articles, helpdesk pages, tutorials, and external webpages to improve the chatbot knowledge base and provide more detailed AI responses.



  1. Configure Chatbot Settings : Go to AI Shopping Assistant → Chatbot Settings → Open the required tab (Behavior, Appearance, or Content) to customize your chatbot settings → Add AI Instructions to control chatbot behavior → Manage Product Recommendations and Do-not-recommend products → Customize Tone & Style → Modify chatbot Appearance settings and Content messages as needed → Click Save Changes to apply all updates.


Behavior Tab:

Configure how the AI chatbot responds to customers.

  • Add AI Instructions to define chatbot behavior (for example: recommend products, response tone, support rules, sales approach, etc.)
  • Manage Product Recommendations
  • Enable/disable out-of-stock product recommendations
  • Add products to the Do-not-recommend list
  • Customize the chatbot Tone & Style

Appearance Tab:

Customize the chatbot widget design to match your store branding.

  • Change chatbot colors
  • Update chat widget style
  • Customize button appearance
  • Adjust chat position and layout

Content Tab:

Control chatbot messages and displayed content.

  • Edit welcome messages
  • Customize chatbot replies
  • Configure default customer-facing text



  1. Capture Leads: Go to Contacts → Settings → Enable the Lead Capture option to start collecting customer contact information from chatbot conversations → Select the fields to collect such as Name and Phone Number (Email is collected by default) → Choose when to show the form (Before or After the customer sends the first message) → Configure whether customers can skip the form (Yes – Recommended / No – Required) → Optionally enable the Subscribe-to-notifications checkbox → Click Save Settings to apply changes.

Lead Capture Options: Enable Lead Capture, Fields to Collect, Show Form Timing, Skip Form Option, and Notification Checkbox.



Note: Captured leads will automatically appear under the Leads tab inside the Contacts section.




  1. Verify on Front Store : Open your storefront and test the chatbot functionality.

You can:

  • Ask product-related questions
  • Check automated responses
  • Verify AI recommendations
  • Test FAQ responses
  • Verify chatbot visibility on Desktop and Mobile devices





Once all settings are configured successfully, your AI Shopping Assistant- Chatbot is ready to assist customers on your Shopify store.
