How to Add Custom Options in the SB Custom Product Designer

This feature allows you to add customization options to your products so customers can personalize them before purchase. Custom options can include text input, image upload, dropdowns, checkboxes, or file uploads, and all entered details are saved with the order.



Steps:


  1. Open Custom Options in the App: Shopify Admin β†’ Apps β†’ SB Custom Product Personalizer β†’ Custom Options β†’ Add Custom Field



  1. Click on Add Custom Option to open the Create Custom Field popup, then select the Field Type based on the customization you want to offer (for example: Text, Text Area, Image Upload, Dropdown, etc.).




  1. **Configure Custom Option Settings: **

Once you select a Field Type and click Create, the detailed configuration screen will open.

Here you can configure the following fields:

  • Field Type – Confirms the selected option type (for example: Dropdown).
  • Label – Enter the label that will be shown to customers on the product page.
  • Field Code Name – A unique internal identifier for the field (for example: custom_size, engraving_text). This is optional but recommended.
  • Option Value – Add the selectable values for this option (for example: Small, Medium, Large).
  • Value Price – (Optional) Set an additional price for each option value.
  • Add Option – Click to add more option values.




  1. choose the Display Style:Standard – Displays the custom option directly on the product page.Tab – Displays the custom option inside a separate tab on the product page.Once selected, click Create to proceed with field configuration.



Example Configuration

For example, if you are creating a Dropdown option:

  • Field Type: Dropdown
  • Label: Select Size
  • Field Code Name: size_option
  • Option Values: Small, Medium, Large
  • Value Price: Set additional pricing if required (optional)
  • Display Style: Standard

This configuration will display a size selection dropdown on the product page.




  1. Assign Custom Option to Products :After creating the custom option ➜ add the product to the Personalizer ➜ the custom options will be automatically assigned to that product ➜ save your selection ➜ the custom option will now be visible on the selected product pages..




  1. Preview and Test
  • Open the product page on your storefront.
  • Check if the custom option appears correctly.
  • Add a test personalization and add the product to the cart.
  • Verify that the customization details appear correctly in the cart and order details.


Notes & Best Practices

  • You can create multiple custom options and combine them on a single product.
  • Always test options on a preview theme before enabling them on the live theme.
  • Keep option labels clear and simple for better customer experience.
