How to Configure Shipping ETA and Longest ETA Display on Checkout (Shopify Plus)

To provide a clearer checkout experience, you can display estimated delivery timelines directly during checkout. Showing ETA information helps customers understand when their order is expected to arrive before completing the purchase.

On Shopify Plus, you can improve delivery visibility in two ways:

  • Display the longest ETA for the entire cart when multiple products have different delivery timelines
  • Show ETA messages under individual shipping methods

This guide will help you configure ETA visibility across your Shopify checkout experience.

Using the steps below, you can add an ETA block in checkout, configure shipping methods with delivery timelines, and display ETA messages so customers can clearly see expected delivery dates before placing an order.

Note: This functionality is available only for Shopify Plus stores.

Initial Setup:

Go to Shopify Admin β†’ Delivery Date – ETA β†’ Settings β†’ Under ETA for checkout pages β†’ Click Configure next to Show Longest ETA on Checkout β†’ Enable the checkout widget β†’ Select your preferred display mode

  • Show longest ETA below cart items

Displays one combined delivery estimate for the entire order based on the longest ETA among all products in the cart.

  • Show ETA under each shipping method

Displays ETA messages below each shipping option so customers can compare delivery timelines before selecting a shipping method.

Steps for Show longest ETA below cart items:

  1. Enable the Longest ETA widget: Go to Shopify Admin β†’ Delivery Date – ETA β†’ Settings β†’ Under ETA for checkout pages β†’ Click Configure next to Show Longest ETA on Checkout β†’ Enable the widget

  1. Add the ETA block to checkout : Open Theme Customizer β†’ Select Checkout β†’ Go to Order summary β†’ Cart β†’ Click Add block β†’ Select Delivery Date – ETA β†’ Place the block β†’ Click Save

  1. Verify the display: : Ensure the block appears in the Order summary β†’ Confirm mode is set to Show longest ETA below cart items β†’ Click Save

Note: The Longest ETA widget works only when ETA rules apply to all products in the cart and no shipping method, zipcode, or warehouse filters are used.

  • Steps for Show ETA under each shipping method

  1. Add block in checkout: Go to Shopify Admin β†’ Delivery Date – ETA β†’ Settings β†’ Under ETA for checkout pages β†’ Click Configure next to Show ETA under each shipping method β†’ Enable the widget β†’ Open Theme Customizer β†’ Select Checkout β†’ Go to Shipping method β†’ Click Add block β†’ Select Delivery Date – ETA β†’ Place it under shipping options β†’ Configure Show Only Delivery Date as needed β†’ Click Save

  1. Create & assign shipping methods: Click Create shipping method β†’ Popup opens β†’ Choose display style (Visual Options / Classic Dropdown) β†’ Add methods manually or use Sync from Shopify β†’ Select required methods (Standard, Express, Free Shipping) β†’ Click Apply β†’ Link the shipping method with the ETA rule

  1. Save & verify on storefront: Save β†’ Open storefront β†’ Select product β†’ Add to cart β†’ Proceed to checkout β†’ Enter shipping details β†’ Verify ETA appears under each shipping method

After enabling the widget, confirm it works correctly on your storefront.

Note:If no shipping-method rule is configured, Show ETA under each shipping method will not apply.

In this case, ETA will automatically be displayed using Show longest ETA below cart items.

  1. Final Verification :Check the checkout page to ensure ETA is displayed correctly based on your selected configuration.
